Ever been in love, but it just didn’t work out? The latest track from ANTHEA‘s »XEA«, is all about the darker side of love. Her debut EP just got unleashed today.

The song tells of longing and pain, and the illusory hope we employ to keep ourselves alive in toxic relationships. There is an unfulfilled desire for an ideal that the other person can’t live up to. Filmmaker Kurdwin Ayub, who already collaborated with Anthea in the short film »LOLOLOL«, interprets this toxic desire in the video for »Alive« as transcendental love for an elevated, female Jesus figure. Anthea brings Jesus to life with love and passion, but she just can’t have her. The worlds they come from are too different, the social conventions and expectations of relationships too oppressive.
