Video Premiere: Kevin Elamrani-Lince & ssaliva »LA«

PW-Magazine hosts the exclusive premiere of the latest project of the interdisciplinary record label and platform Land Arts, in which director Kevin Elamrani-Lince and audiovisual artist ssaliva unfold a ghostly rush of images.

»LA« is a short film made by Parisian director Kevin Elamrani-Lince during late spring 2021. Born after »Landscapes«, a book showcasing more than 100 artworks from audiovisual artist ssaliva and published by the Paris-based collective Land Arts in December 2021, »LA« is also a musical piece in three acts.

This contemplative painting came to life as the result of a collective walking in the countryside of Liège, an area that’s been very influential in ssaliva’s aesthetics, where post-industrial landscapes and forests are intertwined. Aiming to place the viewer in the artist’s state of mind, the shots we find in »LA« are still lives that are animated by the treatment of natural light in each scene. The only actor here is the nature displayed, there is no need for locations or any logical narration — like remote lands we can explore in our dreams.
