How are our emotional landscapes altered with new personal forms of inter-subjectivity? Bénédicte shares an exercise in experimentation.
The Montreal-based producer and sound artist Maxime Gordon aka Bénédicte distorts field recordings and vocal samples in her work, mixing the human and familiar with the unnatural.
After three years of composing, her songs raise questions of personal exploration of what happens after an emotional connection is made with someone, and have it reflected in a collection of sonic interpretations of the ever-changing emotional shifts: »Bridging human voice and emotional melody with more abstract and disembodied sounds has always interested me and this EP is my version of composing with this kind of sound palette. Emotionally, this is quite a personal album and each song reflects some emotional state I was in during the composing process.«
