Monday - April 9

#ART Speed 2
With this series of exhibitions, four contemporary art positions will be presented in a speed-dating process at the Büro Weltausstellung every week in April. The second installment shows works by Rade Petrasevic.

#ART New Works
Opening of the exhibition by Rafiqul Shuvo at artist-run space LLLLLLl. The format focuses on the artist and his work progress. It is based on an open studio situation, but uses the representation of the white cube.

#ART Political Futures: What if …
Andreas Mailath-Pokorny, Vienna’s Counsellor of Culture and Science since 2001, and Nicolaus Schafhausen, Director of Kunsthalle Wien, attempt to sketch out and discuss an image of Vienna’s cultural political future together.


Tuesday - April 10

#STAGE Diese Mauser fasst sich selbst zusammen…
In Miroslava Svolikova’s absurd farce at Schauspielhaus Wien, three characters dare to advance into the dark heart of application bureaucracy. Each of them believes that they are required to take on a task. What task? They don’t know.

#ART MAK Future Lab: How will we exist?
The results of recent research in the field of molecular biology already allow the manipulation of gene chains with simple techniques. This has serious consequences for the definition of the limits of human existence. A keynote speech by Renée Schroeder at the MAK Future Lab, followed by a panel discussion.

#ART Second Nature / Louvre Lover
Opening of the solo exhibitions by Antoinette Zwirchmayr and the artist duo joechlTRAGSEILER at das weisse haus. Afterwards there will be an artist talk by Carmen Gray and with the artists.


Wednesday - April 11

#ART Some Plant Volatiles
For the exhibition at the KUNST HAUS WIEN Jochen Lempert will showcase his works in display cabinets. As an instrument for the transfer of knowledge he uses this specific display to question in different chapters specific notions of nature, and of nature in interaction with architecture.

#ART Dominik Steiger
Opening as part of the exhibition by Günter Brus. The Belvedere 21 shows the pictorial-literary collaboration of Günter Brus with Dominik Steiger. A space within the large retrospective takes on changing presentations.

#ART Enjoy Photography 5
400 graduates have already emerged from the Friedl Kubelka school. Thirteen of them come together for a joint exhibition at KRINZINGER PROJEKTE and bring along photographs in a wide variety of forms: as single images and series, stacks and posters, reportage, performance or installation.

#ART Is it language that they’re after?
Opening of the exhibition at Kunsthalle Exnergasse, which examines hybrid forms that have emerged since the 20th century on the border of literature and visual art. The show examines these models against the background of the Internet and its tendency to reduce and at the same time make language obsolete.


Thursday - April 12

#ART Bouchra Khalili / Elaine Reichek
Two exhibitions will be opened simultaneously in the Vienna Secession: The Moroccan-French artist Bouchra Khalili weaves a kind of “alternative history” in videos, photographs, and prints. On the other hand, Elaine Reichek presents works that explore the figures of the “Minoan girls”.

#ART mumok library
Once a month, limited edition artist books and magazines are presented exclusively in the mumok library. This edition shows the artist Barbara Kapusta, who deals with photo-film and video works with text-based works.

#ART Two nights
This is going to be exciting: Danish artist Laura Lintrup will open her first solo exhibition in Vienna, which takes place at artist-run space DELF.

#MUSIC Electric Spring 2018
For the fourth time now, Electric Spring will take place at the Museumsquartier Wien. The current issue of the two-day festival is curated by Therese Terror. For this year’s festival, she promises a line-up that reflects the impressive variety of Austrian electronic artists and will be exciting, sophisticated and naturally danceable.


Friday - April 13

#ART A posture for something else
Don’t miss the opening of the solo show by painter Katharina Höglinger at art space Tower, an exhibition project by the curator Flora Peyrer-Heimstätt.

#ART Cabinet
Joerg Reissner turns the Kunstraum SUPER into a Baroque Wunderkammer. The setting is intimate and more reminiscent of a natural history collection arrangement.

#ART Three places: small scale of cinematic narration
At the invitation of Hannahlisa Kunyik, Viktoria Bayer, İpek Hamzaoğlu, and Laura Nitsch & Barbara Juch open the event and exhibition series Kunsthalle Turnhalle in Vienna Fünfhaus with this fine scale of experimental topographies.

#MUSIC Diversity Strategies in Contemporary Club Culture
Artists, activists and promoters from Austria and the Czech Republic will provide insights into their work and how they promote (gender) diversity in line-ups, in the club context and beyond. This discussion will take place at Kunsthalle Wien.

#MUSIC Fake Leather
The Viennese label Seayou Entertainment presents the album release show of the band The Crispies and the concert of the opening act Siamese Elephants at Flex.

#MUSIC Hours
Don’t miss this pleasant club journey with the DJ Qnete from labels 777 Recordings and Drowned Records, Bernhard, and Kraubath at celeste in the 5th district.

#MUSIC Sama Recordings
A label night with Nino Sebelic from Minimalsoul Recordings, Shrimp Traxx from Nerang Recordings, and Sama Recordings’ own Welia and Ambient Animal will take place at fluc.

#MUSIC Goldgelb
Another label night, another venue: Circle of Life and Kobermann will perform at Rhiz Vienna. They will be supported by the DJs Akrüül, Fabio Bianco, and Noel Dinse.


Saturday - April 14

#ART E++
This one-day group show with Niklas Büscher, Maria Cozma, Sophie Marie Csenar, Ana-Marija Da Ziher, Pedro Herrero Ferrán, Luna Ghisetti, Samuel Linus Gromann, Anna Hostek, Selma Klima, Elias Nasari, Laurids Oder, Valentin Postlmayr, Henrietta Rauth, Aline Sofie Rainer, Alina Schaller, Eva Seiler, Julia Steinbach, Emmanuel Troy, Dan Vogt, Aleksandar Vučenović, and Malte Zander will take place at Freizeitanlage Praterstern.

#STAGE Running gag
The new work of the female performance duo Sööt / Zeyringer questions power and gender relations in humor - who is allowed to be funny, and who laughs at whom?

#MUSIC Canyoudigit
The hip hop promoter crew invited Antwon, Dylan Ross, Antonia XM, and many more to the fluc. Expect rap, grime, juke, dancehall, funk, disco, rnb and contempo club.

#MUSIC Fish Market
For their April issue, Meat Market has booked two artists to Grelle Forelle, with whom they have already spent wonderful nights: Andre Kronert, who runs his own vinyl label with an incredible amount of passion, and Markus Suckut, who works tirelessly for labels such as Figure or his own label SCKT.
