The Femdex Podcast: Izabel

pw-magazine-vienna-femdex-podcast

Femdex and PW-Magazine are collaborating on a series of podcasts and interviews to highlight female talent from Vienna and around the globe.

Artist name: Izabel
Current residence: Amsterdam
Label/Crew: Lullabies For Insomniacs

Can you tell us about the ideas and inspirations behind this mix?

The mix is cut short, the missing half was inspired by songs i played at a recent festival in Nijmegen. The first half which you can hear includes songs i have found myself returning to or enjoying whilst making the mix.

As far as you remember, what was your first song or band you fell in love with when you were a child or teenager?

I was absolutely obsessed with Les Miserables, my dad took me to see the play in 2000 where we brought the CD and I listened to it on repeat for about 4 years.

Do you remember your first encounter with electronic music and can you elaborate on that?

These were had at Melbourne venue - Killing Time (Windsor). It was one of the only places that we were allowed in underage for years, they had world class and top local djs spinning every other night. Usually djs would headline a festival or club night at Revolver or QBar (just up the road) then come to KT for unannounced encore shows.

Tell us about one of your best, worst, funniest or weirdest DJ experience.

I wouldn’t know where to start with this question. It’s one big trip.

Our last featured artist Deflection Pulley would like to know what you think about vocals?

Vocals are very important, the voice is the most powerful instrument.

Get in touch with our next artist Marie Cherie based in Vienna. What would you like to know?

Whose one of your mentors from your hometown?
