The Femdex Podcast: Chlorys

Femdex and PW-Magazine are collaborating on a series of podcasts and interviews to highlight female talent from Vienna and around the globe.

Artist Name: Chlorys
Current Residence: Bucharest
Label / Crew / Projects: Corp. / Noods Radio

Can you tell us about the ideas and inspirations behind this mix?

It was recorded late at night in my small hometown in northern Romania, so I assume it does take a bit of a therapeutic turn. I also wanted to pay my tribute to Ursula K. Le Guin, which I featured in the mix right at the start of it.

As far as you remember, what was your first song or band that you fell in love with when you were a kid or a teenager?

Remembering my childhood can take a deceiving turn as I often wonder what was real or not, but these days I did remember being mesmerized by Björk’s »Hunter« while it played on MTV back in 1997.

Do you remember your first encounter with electronic music and can you elaborate on that?

Being a 90’s kid, I think watching a lot of MTV & VH1 late at night, but I can not define a specific moment in time regarding the first contact with electronic music. It was always there, in its many mutant forms.

Tell us about one of your best, worst, funniest or strangest DJ experiences.

I clearly remember that one time when a girl came up to me with a handwritten note that read: »Please play less machine music, we are human after all.«

Our last featured artist Antonia would like to know what makes you really angry on a daily basis?

A lot of things, like injustice, the faulty healthcare system, transphobia, homophobia, racism, etc.

Get in touch with our next artist Lea. What would you like to know?

Could you describe your morning ritual?
