Monday – June 4

#VIS Filmverschwendung!
VIS will show short films by the deceased artist Ernst Schmidt junior at METRO Kinokulturhaus. As a companion to, among others, VALIE EXPORT, he was co-founder of the Austrian Filmmakers Coop and one of the main protagonists of the Expanded Cinema of the 1960s and 70s.

#FEST Mico | Macro
Multimedia artist Ryoji Ikeda transforms Halle E in the MuseumsQuartier into an oversized world of moving images and sounds; creates a field of imagination between quantum physics, empirical experimentation and human perception.

#FEST Tiefer Schweb
Christoph Marthaler, master of all that is whimsical and bizarre, presents a civil service revue about eager representatives of an old world with a supranational sense of duty at Theater an der Wien.


Tuesday – June 5

#ART Pluriversum
The Belvedere 21 has dedicated a retrospective exhibition to what is now more than half a century of work by the lawyer and former Adorno confidant Alexander Kluge. The show was designed to reveal the core of his multimedia oeuvre and was developed in close dialogue with him.

#ART The Simple Life
Opening of the third solo exhibition by German artist and recipient of the BC21 Belvedere Contemporary Art Award Lucie Stahl at Galerie Meyer Kainer.

#ART Christine & Irene Hohenbüchler
In their exhibition at Galerie Martin Janda, the two artists Christine and Irene Hohenbüchler show works from several decades that emphasize the complexity of their work.

#ART Intersections
In the first issue of Galerie Kunstbuero’s exhibition series, the works of Bernadette Anzengruber and Sanja Velickovic will open a dialogue on female identities and gender roles with regard to historical iconographies.

Wednesday – June 6

#ART 60 Elephants. Episodes of a Theory
The mumok cinema will show a movie by Michael Klein and Sasha Pirker who have been working on the theories of the architect and visionary Yona Friedman, and have developed a cinematic language for their presentation.

#MUSIC We Met At Night
The fresh band Love Good Fail will celebrates the release of their debut album on Vienna-based label Seayou Entertainment together with special guest I-Wolf at Grelle Forelle.

Thursday – June 7

#ART The Two Halves of Martha Wilson’s Brain
The exhibition at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich frames the productivity of Martha Wilson’s subversive, consequent approach and the reciprocities between her own artistic work and her collaborations as well as support for other female artists.

#ART Cicoria
Opening of the exhibition by Alessandro Cicoria at Vin Vin at Ruyter. In a recent series of works, Cicoria produces drawings originating from the artist’s research on the Aerofonisti at Museo storico dell’Arma del Genio in Rome.

#ART Grau und Farbig
Opening of the solo show by Austrian artist Michael Kienzer at Galerie Elisabeth & Klaus Thoman. At the same time, the group exhibition “SPECIAL ART SHOP” will be opened in the side gallery.


Friday – June 8

#FEST L’habitude
In L’habitude, a theatrical installation and prologue to the cycle Violence & Institutions, author, film and theatre maker Jean Michel Bruyère and his Marseilles-based collective LFKs evoke activist Assata Shakur and the spirit of revolt.

#FEST Deep Friday #2
On three Fridays in June, the Wiener Festwochen invites you to long nights of concerts, interventions and audiovisual art in the Gösserhallen. Do not miss the performances by Naomi Rincón Gallardo, Tara Transitory aka One Man Nation, Perera Elsewhere, and Yassin Hawwa!

#MUSIC Azephal + Aleph
The English slide guitar maestro Mike Cooper, who has been considered an icon of “post-everything music” for more than four decades, will play a concert at Alte Schmiede.

With this community event at V.esch, PW-Magazine announces the relaunch of its website at the end of June. Besides the whole new design, we celebrate our new editorial team which was put together behind the scenes.

Meat Market’s summer festival will bring you Non-Series‘ label boss PSYK, Gerald VDH, Scirox, Mutter’s Bort & Marc Graebnor to Grelle Forelle as well as Echion, Rene Schwarzmann, and Glsky to Das Werk.
