Ars Electronica is one of the biggest festivals for media arts. If you’re in Linz, don’t miss its sub-event Ars Electronica Nightline which brings you Dorian Concept, Darkstar, Lorenzo Senni and many more!
Ars Electronica was founded in 1979 and is probably the oldest of its kind. Every September it gathers media artists, performers, sound artists, bio-art specialists and an audience from all over the world in Linz. Austria’s third-largest city and capital of the state of Upper Austria is just a quick one-hour train ride away from Vienna. The sub-event A E N is the evolved version of the former ‘Ars Electronica Nightline’ which used to be a loose collection of concerts, performances and after-party events throughout Linz. Now in its third year the upcoming edition A E N tries to focus all these notions in one long, festival-like night at a single location.
Dorian’s label mate Nabihah Iqbal aka Throwing Shade will present her mixture of electronic music, pop and post-internet aesthetics. Koenig, known from the neo-Dadaist duo ‘Koenigleopold’ will perform with a drum set, samples, his own voice and a good measure of random weirdness. Also part of the line-up is Battle-Ax, a solo-performer equipped with her violin and effects producing strong and emotive soundscapes.
Lorenzo Senni will play one of his pointillist trance live-sets. By combining iconic elements of rave and trance music and stripping it down to its essentials, he creates a completely new sound aesthetic. Before the main event there will be an early ‘Noise Opening’ starting around 7 p.m., with I.M. Free / Spectro Duo, Aesun Kim, Steve J.Sutanto, Gabriela Gordillo, Irene Ródenas Sáinz de Baranda, Julia del Río and Monica Vlad.
On a smaller, more intimate stage next to the main stage an experimental line-up will be presented. Alexandra Murray Leslie of Chicks On Speed will give a shoe-based performance, Moritz Haberkorn aka Morast will play his unique style of overdrive, raw distortion, and elaborated soundscapes and Bhoomesh Tak will do a trans-reality performance.
Finishing off the evening, DJ Marcelle / Another Nice Mess will play one of her three-turntable, sample-heavy and extremely animating sets. See you there!
